The SN Duplex Single-mode Fiber Optic Patch Cord represents the forefront of high-density optical connectivity. Featuring the innovative SN® (Senko Nanosocket) connector, this Very Small Form Factor (VSFF) patch cord is purpose-built to meet the extreme space constraints and performance demands of 400G, 800G, and future 1.6T Ethernet environments . By delivering up to three times the fiber density of traditional duplex LC connectors, the SN connector enables unprecedented port counts in QSFP-DD, OSFP, and SFP-DD transceiver form factors
The SN connector houses two precision 1.25mm zirconia ceramic ferrules—the same proven technology as industry-standard LC connectors—within a single, ultra-compact housing . This design allows four independent SN duplex connections to fit within the footprint of a single OSFP or QSFP-DD transceiver, enabling direct breakout applications without external cassettes or fanout cables . The push-pull boot design ensures easy insertion and removal in high-density patching fields without requiring special tools .
Engineered specifically for single-mode applications, this patch cord utilizes 9/125µm OS2 fiber, compliant with G.652.D and bend-insensitive G.657.A1 standards . The bend-insensitive fiber technology allows for tighter cable routing and slack storage without signal degradation, with a minimum bend radius as low as 10mm . This ensures stable, low-loss transmission over extended distances, making it ideal for metro, campus, and data center interconnect (DCI) applications.
Key Application Scenarios
-400G/800G Data Center Spine-Leaf Architectures
The SN connector is purpose-built for next-generation high-speed networks. It is widely adopted in QSFP-DD and OSFP transceivers for 400GBASE-DR4 and 800G applications, enabling direct connectivity without breakout cassettes . Up to four SN connectors can be patched directly to a single transceiver, quadrupling switch density .
-Direct Breakout from High-Speed Transceivers
Unlike traditional MTP-based systems requiring fanout cassettes, SN patch cords allow individual duplex ports to be disconnected directly at the transceiver interface for service, inspection, or cleaning without disrupting other channels .
-High-Density Patch Panels and Cassettes
In 1U patch panels where space is at a premium, SN connectors enable up to 432 fibers (144 duplex ports) in a single rack unit—three times the density of LC connectors . This mega-densification is achieved without compromising accessibility .
-Hyperscale and Cloud Data Centers
For hyperscale data center operators, SN connectivity significantly increases patching density across the network while reducing total cost of ownership. It supports both greenfield deployments and upgrades of legacy fiber infrastructure .
-Coherent and On-Board Optics Applications
The SN portfolio includes solutions for coherent systems and on-board optics, with miniaturized connectors that generate additional space for electronic hardware or WDM devices "Behind The Wall" (BTW) .
-Hybrid and Breakout Assemblies
SN patch cords are available in hybrid configurations with LC or other standard connectors, as well as MTP to SN fanouts for splitting parallel fiber links into full-duplex connections .
The SN Duplex Single-mode Fiber Optic Patch Cord combines ceramic ferrule reliability with revolutionary space-saving design, delivering the performance, density, and flexibility required for the most demanding next-generation network infrastructures.
